Good Habits for a Junior in High School

Hello friends!! It has been such a long time since I last posted- I am so, so sorry, but I'm a junior in high school and this year so far has been a slap in the face so I hope you can understand why I haven't been active. But, I'm finally getting some good momentum and I am back and ready to go!! Today I want to share a few healthy habits I've been focusing on this school year that have really helped me focus on what is important to me. Enjoy!!

Deleting social media: I finally bit the bullet, and I am so glad I did. If you're anything like me you probably have some level of addiction to Instagram, Snapchat, etc. and you don't realize how much of your time it takes up. But, I deleted the apps and I've found that it is a lot easier for me to do my work without being tempted by my phone.

Dedicated time to your self: Don't get me wrong, I've always looked forward to weekends. But, until this year, I never fully appreciated them. Since I'm taking 5 AP classes (terrible idea, I know!!) and play tennis, I pretty much come home, do my work, and go to bed. So, when the weekend finally rolls around, it's all about unwinding and taking as much time as possible to just be calm. As much as I love my friends and spending time with them, which is what used to occupy my whole weekend, I am feeling so much better now that I utilize my time more wisely.

Volunteering: Sometimes it can be hard to force yourself out of the house and donate your time to something in your community- but when you do, it is so, so worth it. I have a new love for my town since I've started volunteering so much, and it really is a great way to distract yourself from school or other problems all while leaving a positive impact on someone. I love my farmer's market to death and now make it a priority to volunteer there every weekend. Bonus- volunteering during golden hour makes for some great pics :)

Shorten your morning routine: Nights where I get more than 8 hours of sleep have been few and far between lately- for that reason, I've been sleeping in as late as I can without having to rush to get ready. I pack everything up before bed, put clothes out, and I pretty much just roll out of bed, brush my teeth and wash/moisturize my face before heading out. My skincare routine is very simple at this point, but my skin is looking and feeling a lot better than it was this summer, so I am really glad I tried it.

I hope this post was enough of an apology for not posting for so long- don't worry! I'm back for good! xoxo,
Sophie
